The Electric Vehicle Giant Investors to Cast Their Ballots on Colossal $1 Trillion Pay Package for CEO Elon Musk

Investors in the electric car maker convened on Thursday to vote on a substantial remuneration plan for CEO Elon Musk worth approximately nearly $1 trillion. Upon approval, this package would showcase shareholder trust that the entrepreneur can steer the automaker into an era defined by artificial intelligence and advanced machinery. If rejected, Tesla could potentially face the loss of a key figure who historically built the company name interchangeable with EVs.

Record-Breaking Milestones and Company Valuation

Should Musk achieve the lofty objectives specified in the remuneration deal revealed at Tesla's annual meeting, he could emerge as the pioneering person with a trillion-dollar net worth. For this to happen, he must steer Tesla to a monumental $8.5 trillion in market value, which is an eightfold increase its existing market cap. Furthermore, he will be tasked to launch numerous autonomous vehicles and advanced androids, while maintaining the company's bottom line in the massive revenue figures in the upcoming decade.

Reward System

The primary objectives of the remuneration structure, split into 12 tranches, delineate a roadmap for Tesla to reach its massive valuation. Upon achievement, Musk would be able to cash in an further 12% of the company's stock. For this to occur, he must stay committed with the firm for at least 7.5 years. He will also help develop a corporate transition roadmap for the business he has managed for over 20 years. The share grants provided by the new compensation plan, alongside shares promised in his 2018 package, would leave Musk with 25% ownership of Tesla's shares. As of early November, Tesla shares were valued close to its yearly maximum, at approximately $450 per stock.

Lofty Goals

Over the course of a ten-year period, Musk will be required to produce 20 million EVs to consumers, sell 10 million operational autonomous driving plans, develop and sell 1 million humanoid robots, and introduce 1 million autonomous taxis in commercial service.

Musk will also be obligated to bring the corporation to $400 billion in actual earnings for four straight quarters. Tesla's real profits for the third quarter of 2025 were $4.2 billion, down 9% from the previous year.

By November, Musk's personal wealth was valued at $460 billion, the leading in the globe, based on market tracking.

Restoring a Rescinded Plan

Shareholders are furthermore reviewing a proposal that would compensate Musk after his 2018 compensation plan was invalidated by a court in Delaware. The compensation package, valued at around $56 billion, was disputed by a single stockholder who succeeded legally. The Delaware court of chancery dismissed Musk's compensation plan on two occasions. Upon stockholder approval the arrangement in the shareholder meeting, Musk is expected to be granted the substantial payout irrespective of whether Tesla and Musk succeed in appealing of the case.

Following Musk's earlier remuneration deal was originally overturned, he transferred Tesla's legal headquarters from Delaware to Texas. He did the same with the rocket firm and additional corporate bases. In last year, according to Texas regulations, shareholders for a second time voted to approve the compensation plan.

But Delaware's so-called "judicial body" for a second time denied one of the biggest CEO pay deals in recent times. In the wake of that negative decision, Musk used online platforms to show frustration with the region and its "prominent judicial figure", possibly igniting a wave of business departures that Delaware officials have attempted to staunch with regulatory measures.

In evaluating whether Musk had excessive control in being given that earlier remuneration deal, a noted law professor observed that the judge noted that other "celebrity leaders" like the Meta chief and the e-commerce pioneer were not granted this type of incentive-based contracts.
